The Compay's name is UHURU Enterprises, LLC
The name UHURU was inspired by two famous people. One fictional person and the other non-fictional. The fictional person is the famous Lt. UHURA or Lieutenant Nyota Uhura
Lt. Uhura was an African origin character who was the communications officer of the starship Enterprise in the original hit-TV series "Star Trek". This role was originally played by the famous Nichelle Nichols . When producer Robert Justman explained to creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry, what the word Uhuru meant, he created the name Uhura and adopted it for his African character's name.
The second person is UHURU Kenyatta, native Africian who was elected President of the country Kenya under The National Alliance. The name UHURU is a Swahili word that means “Freedom”.
In the majority of the UHURU products, we strive to add a touch of ethnic identity to all our products. Asia, Africa, or Native America, these tribal locations have something to offer the World. Just like the native Africa representation of the name Uhuru, we too want to live up to a proud name.
